Meet Our Founder & CEO
Carrie McCollough
Affectionately known as Carrie, is a visionary entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Carrie's Apparel Manufacturing, a leading clothing production company recognized for its ethical practices, high-quality craftsmanship, and innovative approach to fashion manufacturing. A passionate advocate for sustainable fashion and women’s empowerment in business, Carrie has carved a name for herself in an industry often dominated by fast fashion and offshore labor practices.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1980, Carrie grew up in a modest household steeped in creativity and resilience. Her mother was a seamstress who often took on custom dressmaking jobs from their home, while her father was a real estate mogul. Carrie was inspired from a young age by her mother’s ability to create beauty from fabric and thread. By the time she was ten, Carrie was sketching her own designs and helping her mother cut patterns.
Carrie pursued her passion through formal education, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the The King's University including Digital Media Art & Design (DMAD). she developed a strong interest in textile engineering and supply chain ethics, areas that would later become foundational to her business model. She went on to complete an MBA in International Institute at University of Fribourg, where she began researching the economic impact of domestic manufacturing.
In 2015, Carrie took a bold step and launched Carrie's Apparel Manufacturing in Edmonton, Alberta, with just six employees and a refurbished warehouse. The early days were challenging. She faced skepticism from investors who doubted the feasibility of domestic manufacturing at scale, especially in a highly competitive market. But Elle was undeterred. With a combination of strategic partnerships, careful financial planning, and hands-on leadership, she began to grow the company steadily.
Her company offered full-package production services for emerging designers and established fashion labels alike. Carrie's Apparel specialized in small-batch and mid-size production runs, enabling fashion brands to scale responsibly. Carrie also made a point to train and employ skilled workers locally, many of whom had been displaced from the textile industry due to outsourcing.
